I underwent the MR examination and I am pleased to share this experience with other people if it helps them to overcome their fear. I want to say that I was not at any of the centers referred to on this website.

My neurologist sent me to magnetic resonance after several sessions. According to the doctor I had to have an empty stomach, although I did not see the reason because then I read on the internet that it wasn’t necessary. I arrived early and they injected contrast agent into my vein. Then I had to wait; I could not even go to the toilet or eat. Despite the fact that I was a bit afraid, the magnetic resonance imaging examination was fine after all. They gave me a questionnaire to fill in; I think it was for the security. It included questions such as whether I suffered from claustrophobia or anything what the MR examination excluded. I remember just lying there and being not allowed to move. They gave me a button which was to be pressed if I needed anything or didn’t feel well. They even gave me earphones and finally I was inserted into the tunnel; I could hear a faint sound. I found out later that the device produced the sound when it switched to a different mode. It seemed to me that it lasted terribly long, but it wasn’t even 20 minutes.

Magnetic resonance imaging isn’t painful and nobody should be worried. There are doctors in the room who are ready to help if necessary.

I do wish that other people are not afraid of the examination. You should rather tell your doctor that you want to undergo the magnetic resonance imaging examination and not postpone it.
